Grade 8 Students Conquer Adirondack Peaks on Annual Adventure Trip

From September 10–12, 2025, Far Hills Country Day School’s Grade 8 students embarked on their annual Adventure Trip to the breathtaking Adirondacks in Keene Valley, New York. This beloved tradition, carried on for more than 30 years, challenges students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace teamwork, and experience the rewards of the great outdoors.

Over the course of three days, students participated in a variety of team-building activities that tested perseverance, strengthened bonds, and encouraged collaboration. The adventure continued with hikes up mountain peaks, where students faced steep climbs, rocky terrain, and the mental and physical challenges that come with summiting. Each accomplishment at the peak was met with celebration and pride, as classmates cheered one another on and shared in the sense of achievement.

Evenings brought time for reflection and connection. Gathered together, students shared stories of the day’s accomplishments, laughed over new experiences, and deepened friendships that will carry them through their final year at Far Hills. These quieter moments—camp conversations, meals together, and encouragement before the next day’s climb—helped weave the class into an even stronger, more unified community.

Throughout the journey, the Class of 2026 demonstrated remarkable resilience, camaraderie, and leadership. They encouraged one another through challenges, celebrated milestones together, and embodied the supportive spirit that defines the Far Hills community.

“The Adventure Trip is more than an outdoor excursion—it’s a formative experience,” said Emily Seelaus, Director of Upper School. “By testing themselves in nature and relying on each other, students not only discover new strengths but also create bonds that last well beyond Far Hills. They return to campus ready to step into their role as the leaders of the Middle School, prepared for the challenges and opportunities of secondary school and beyond.”
