On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Grade 8 students at Far Hills participated in Secondary School Mock Interview Day, an important milestone in preparing for the next step in their educational journeys. This annual event provides students with an opportunity to develop and refine the skills they’ll need for the secondary school admissions process—while building confidence that extends far beyond the interview chair.
The day centered on mock interviews with parents and community volunteers, providing students with a rare opportunity to practice in a setting that closely mirrors the real thing. Each interview was followed by immediate, constructive feedback, helping students recognize their strengths and identify areas for growth. From practicing how to articulate their thoughts clearly to learning how to highlight personal interests, achievements, and character, students gained firsthand experience that will serve them well in the months ahead.
What made the day especially valuable was the chance for students to step outside their comfort zones. Many experienced, for the first time, what it feels like to think on their feet, answer unexpected questions, and present themselves under pressure. These moments of challenge quickly turned into moments of growth, as students discovered new ways to express their individuality with confidence and poise.
As the event concluded, the Grade 8 students took a moment to reflect on what they had learned. The insights and feedback gathered during Mock Interview Day will be instrumental as they continue preparing for secondary school applications. More importantly, the self-assurance they gained will benefit them not only in admissions interviews but also in future presentations, leadership roles, and everyday interactions.
At Far Hills, Mock Interview Day is more than a practice run—it’s a meaningful rite of passage. We are proud of our Grade 8 students for approaching the day with courage, curiosity, and enthusiasm.
