A Journey Worth Celebrating: Honoring Our Legacy Families

On Wednesday, May 13, Far Hills Country Day School welcomed a special group of students and families for the annual Legacy Breakfast, a beloved tradition honoring the Grade 8 students who have called Far Hills home since Preschool.

Known affectionately within the community as “lifers,” these students have spent nearly their entire childhood growing up on the Far Hills campus. From their earliest days in the Preschool classrooms to their final weeks as Upper School leaders, they have experienced every stage of a Far Hills education firsthand, building friendships, confidence, and memories that stretch across more than a decade.

This year’s legacy students include:
Sydney Goldstein, Luke Meyer, Olivia Mishima, Lachlan Sutte

Held in a warm and celebratory setting, the morning brought together families, faculty, and school leadership to reflect on just how much these students have grown over the years. There was a shared sense of pride and nostalgia in the room as families reminisced about first drop-offs, classroom performances, field days, and countless everyday moments that, together, shaped the foundation of their children’s lives.

Head of School Georgia Zaiser reflected on the unique bond these students share with the school community.

“These students know Far Hills in a way few others ever will,” she shared. “They have grown up here. They’ve walked these hallways as our youngest learners and now leave as confident leaders who have helped shape the spirit of this school along the way. Watching that transformation over the years is one of the greatest gifts of a Preschool through Grade 8 community.”

Throughout the morning, it was clear that being a legacy student is about far more than the number of years spent on campus. It is about the lasting relationships built over time, the confidence that comes from being truly known, and the deep sense of belonging created through years of shared experiences.

As families gathered, shared stories, and looked ahead to the exciting next chapter ahead, the Legacy Breakfast served as a powerful reminder of what makes the Far Hills experience so enduring. Long after graduation, the connections formed here remain a part of who these students are and who they will become.

We are incredibly proud of our legacy students and deeply grateful to their families for the trust and partnership they have shared with Far Hills throughout the years. While their time on campus may be coming to a close, they will always be part of the Far Hills story.
