Kindergarten S.T.E.A.M. Boat Building

Kindergarten S.T.E.A.M. Boat Building

On December 19, Far Hills Kindergarten students dove into their highly anticipated annual cross-curricular gingerbread S.T.E.A.M. activity, and the results were nothing short of spectacular! This year’s Capstone Project combined the best of math, science, engineering, technology, language arts, social studies, and art, tasking our youngest learners with a fun and festive challenge: to design and construct a boat capable of carrying a gingerbread figure safely across a body of water.

The Kindergarteners worked collaboratively, brainstorming designs, testing materials, and refining their creations as they navigated through challenges. Along the way, they explored concepts like buoyancy, balance, and structure while sharpening their teamwork and problem-solving skills. The activity brought to life the Far Hills commitment to experiential learning and creativity, celebrating each student’s determination and ingenuity. Watching their carefully crafted vessels set sail was a moment of pride and joy for students, teachers, and parents alike.

By fostering curiosity and collaboration, this beloved tradition continues to inspire young minds to think big and work together—a true testament to the power of S.T.E.A.M. education at Far Hills!
