Kindergarten Playwrights: Big Ideas, Bright Voices
On Friday, February 6, Kindergarten students filled the Lower School Piazza with imagination as they proudly shared their original Kindergarten Playwrights performances. What began weeks earlier as simple ideas and playful conversations grew into fully realized stories—entirely imagined, written, and performed by our Falcons.
The Kindergarten Playwrights unit invites students to experience storytelling from beginning to end. Working collaboratively, students brainstormed characters and settings, explored how stories unfold, and learned how dialogue brings ideas to life. Each child contributed their thoughts, practiced listening to peers, and discovered how individual creativity becomes even stronger when shared with a group. Along the way, students designed costumes, constructed sets, and rehearsed their lines—building confidence, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their work.
The final performances were a joyful celebration of growth and courage. As students shared their plays with classmates, teachers, and families, they demonstrated not only creativity but also emerging skills in communication, cooperation, and problem-solving. Their enthusiasm and pride were evident, making the experience meaningful for both performers and audience members alike.
Kindergarten Playwrights is more than a performance—it is a powerful example of hands-on, experiential learning. By blending imagination with teamwork and self-expression, our Kindergarten students showed that even at a young age, they are capable of telling thoughtful, expressive stories that are uniquely their own. Bravo to our Kindergarten students for a memorable celebration of creativity!
