Grade 1 Thanksgiving Festivities: Balloon Puppets
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the joy of the season filled the air in our Grade 1 classroom! Thanks to the creativity and dedication of our wonderful class parents, Annie Albright P'29, '32, and Laura Truitt P'32, '34, our young students experienced a festive day of crafting and storytelling.
The celebration kicked off with a heartwarming read-aloud of Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet. This delightful book tells the story of Tony Sarg, the puppeteer behind the iconic balloons of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, sparking curiosity and inspiration in the students.
After the story, the children rolled up their sleeves to create their very own balloon puppets, channeling their imaginations and newfound knowledge into colorful designs. Guided by the class parents, each student brought their puppet to life, ready to parade around the classroom in their own Thanksgiving Day celebration.
This festive activity was a wonderful blend of learning, creativity, and community, reminding us of the joy and gratitude that Thanksgiving brings. A big thank you to Annie and Laura for sharing their time to make this event so special!
We’re so thankful for our Far Hills families and the traditions that bring us together to celebrate the season. Happy Thanksgiving!
