Celebrating Growth and New Beginnings: Lower School Closing Exercise
On Wednesday, June 11, our Lower School community gathered for Closing Exercises—a special celebration of our students’ growth, accomplishments, and resilience throughout the year. Whether mastering new skills, building friendships, or stepping outside their comfort zones, each student has shown tremendous progress and heart. The day served as a joyful reflection on how far they’ve come and the exciting journey ahead.
One of the most meaningful traditions of the day was watching each student step over the bridge, symbolizing their transition to the next grade level. This simple, yet powerful act marked their individual journey and the exciting path that lies ahead. For our Grade 4 students, this moment held even greater significance, as they crossed the bridge for the final time as Lower School students. With smiles, courage, and a few tears, they stepped into their next adventure—the Upper School.
The ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments, including powerful speeches that reflected on the year's lessons, friendships, and memories. The students also delivered a beautiful musical performance of “We Are the Young,” by Mary Donnellyreminding everyone of the strength, hope, and promise this next generation holds.
Pat Barry, Director of Lower School, highlighted, “It has been an extraordinary year of growth. Our students have not only excelled academically but have also blossomed socially and emotionally. At Far Hills, we are grounded in our Five Pillars, and we’ve seen them come to life every day—in classrooms, on playgrounds, and in friendships."
We encourage our students to take this well-deserved summer break to recharge, explore new passions, and reflect on the year’s accomplishments. We look forward to welcoming them back next year, ready to continue their journey of growth and discovery.
