Olivia Sebesky ’04 Brings Art to the World’s Biggest Stages

From Broadway stages to concert arenas around the world, Far Hills alumna Olivia Sebesky ’04 has built a career at the intersection of art, technology, and live performance.

Today, Olivia is an award-winning creative director, multimedia designer, and projection designer. Through Olivia Sebesky Design, she and her team create large-scale visual experiences for theater, concerts, television, special events, and immersive installations. Her work has supported an impressive list of artists and organizations, including Aerosmith, Lainey Wilson, James Taylor, Carrie Underwood, Hootie & The Blowfish, Shakira, Nike, and Universal Studios.

Finding a Bigger Canvas

After graduating from Far Hills, Olivia went on to study painting and illustration at Northeastern University. Her early interests were rooted in traditional fine art, but experiences working in galleries and theater introduced her to projection design and the possibilities of combining art with emerging technology.

It became a natural extension of the skills she had already developed as an artist. Instead of creating within the boundaries of a traditional canvas, Olivia could use color, composition, imagery, animation, and movement to transform an entire stage. That discovery ultimately helped shape the direction of her career.

From Broadway to Concert Arenas

Olivia’s work has since appeared on Broadway and at major live performances around the world. Her Broadway credits include American Idiot, Motown The Musical, Six Degrees of Separation, and Melissa Etheridge: My Window. Her work on Melissa Etheridge: My Window earned her a 2024 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Projection and Video Design.

Her career has also expanded into the concert industry, where she creates visuals designed for some of the largest stages and screens in live entertainment. From developing content for Aerosmith’s Las Vegas residency to creating immersive environments for touring artists, each project gives Olivia the opportunity to tell a different story through visual design.

Where Creativity Meets Technology

While the technology behind Olivia’s work continues to evolve, the foundation remains art. Whether she is designing for a Broadway theater or an arena filled with thousands of concertgoers, every project begins with creative decisions about how visuals can enhance a performance and shape what an audience experiences.

Olivia’s journey from studying traditional fine art to creating visuals for some of the world’s biggest stages shows just how far a creative passion can lead. For this Far Hills alumni, the canvas simply got much bigger.
