Michael Antonelli ’22 Heads to the U.S. Naval Academy

Far Hills alumni Michael Antonelli ’22 is taking an exciting next step this fall as he enrolls at the United States Naval Academy, where he will compete as a member of the Navy’s Division I men’s lacrosse team.

After graduating from Far Hills, Michael attended Blair Academy, where he distinguished himself as a dedicated multi-sport athlete. In addition to excelling on the lacrosse field, he competed in football and swimming, demonstrating versatility, discipline, and a commitment to athletic excellence year-round. He also played at a high level with the Jersey Thunder lacrosse program, further sharpening his skills against top-tier competition.

Michael’s accomplishments in lacrosse have been especially notable. He earned a 3-star ranking from Inside Lacrosse and a 4.17/5 rating from US Club Lacrosse. Among his honors, he was a two-time First Team All–Mid-Atlantic Prep League selection, ranked the No. 1 junior in New Jersey in face-off wins, and was named a Top 44 Elite Prospect in New Jersey by Prep Lacrosse.

A standout face-off specialist, Michael is known for his strength, athleticism, and technical precision. As noted by Prep Lacrosse, “Antonelli has the strength and athleticism you like seeing in a face-off specialist… He is tough and grinds out ground ball battles if he is unable to win the face-off cleanly.” His composure in transition and ability to create opportunities for his team further distinguish him as a dynamic and reliable player.

Michael’s lacrosse journey began at Far Hills, where he played both basketball and lacrosse before focusing on lacrosse in eighth grade. Those early experiences helped spark his passion for the game and laid the foundation for his continued success.

At the Naval Academy, Michael will balance Division I athletics with one of the nation’s most rigorous academic and leadership environments. His work ethic, resilience, and team-first mindset position him well for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
