Charlie Fernandez ’22 and Colin Brucker ’22 Lead Morristown-Beard to Mennen Cup Victory
Charlie and Colin played pivotal roles in leading the Morristown-Beard ice hockey team to its 16th Mennen Cup title in the 50-year history of the tournament. The Crimson secured a 5-2 victory over Chatham High School in the final at Mennen Arena on February 10, 2025—marking the program’s first Mennen Cup win since the 2021-22 season.
Morristown-Beard’s deep roster was a major factor in their success, with 11 players recording points in the championship game. Charlie Fernandez contributed an assist on a first-period goal by Florian Gao, which helped the team build a strong 3-0 lead early in the game. After Chatham fought back in the second period, Morristown-Beard’s defense—anchored by key players like Colin—held strong, shutting down a potential breakaway opportunity and regaining momentum to secure the win.
The victory not only ended a two-year semifinal drought but also cemented Morristown-Beard’s status as a dominant force in Mennen Cup history, having won four titles in seven seasons under Coach Scott Greene. Now, with their sights set on the Non-Public state tournament, the Crimson will face top-ranked teams such as Bridgewater-Raritan and Seton Hall Prep in the coming weeks.
