Built at Far Hills: The Cusimano Family's Athletic Journey
For the Cusimano family, Far Hills Country Day School has been more than a school—it has been the starting point for years of learning, growth, competition, and discovery. With three Far Hills alumni continuing their athletic journeys well beyond campus and a fourth Cusimano still finding his own path as a Falcon, athletics have become an important part of the family’s Far Hills story.

Bobby Cusimano '21 began exploring a wide range of sports at Far Hills, competing in soccer, ice hockey, basketball, and lacrosse.
After graduating, he continued on to Delbarton School, where his athletic experiences expanded to include football, lacrosse, and wrestling. His lacrosse career ultimately opened the door to the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he was recruited to continue competing at the collegiate level.

For Ellie Cusimano '21, Far Hills was also a place to explore her interests and advocate for new opportunities. She competed in field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse—and even petitioned Athletics Director Ron Sansone about starting a girls' soccer team.
At Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, Ellie became a three-sport varsity athlete in field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse. Even after sustaining a significant ACL injury, she continued pursuing her goals and was recruited to play lacrosse at the University of Richmond.

Lexie Cusimano '24 has followed a similarly multi-sport path, building on the foundation she developed while competing in field hockey, volleyball, and lacrosse at Far Hills. After moving on to Oak Knoll, she continued challenging herself as a multi-sport athlete and now competes at the varsity level in both field hockey and ice hockey.
Today, Lexie is in the midst of another exciting chapter as she navigates the college recruiting process. From prospect clinics to conversations about what she wants from her next school and team, she is beginning to determine where athletics may take her after Oak Knoll.

And the Cusimano story at Far Hills is still being written. Jack Cusimano '28, the youngest of the four siblings, remains a Far Hills student and may be the family's most versatile athlete yet. Rather than specializing in one sport, Jack embraces opportunities across the athletic spectrum—from football and golf to surfing and more.
That variety has allowed Jack to continue discovering what he enjoys while developing skills that extend across sports. His experience also reflects something his older siblings shared during their own years at Far Hills: the freedom to try different activities rather than feeling defined by a single one.
Different Paths, One Foundation
While each sibling has followed a different path, their experiences share a common beginning. Far Hills gave the Cusimano children opportunities to try different sports, challenge themselves, discover their strengths, and develop the confidence to pursue new opportunities as they moved on to secondary school and beyond.
For the Cusimano family, that foundation has had a lasting impact. Their story is a reminder that the value of athletics at Far Hills is not measured solely by wins, seasons, or the next level reached. It can be found in the willingness to try something new, the resilience to keep going when plans change, and the confidence to continue discovering what comes next.
