Alumni Spotlight: Sean Bernard ’23 Earns Blair Academy’s Hammer Award for Excellence in Crew

We are proud to celebrate Sean Bernard ’23, who was recently honored with the Hammer Award by Blair Academy’s Athletic Department—one of the school’s most prestigious athletic honors. Sean earned this recognition for his exceptional contributions to Blair’s crew team, where he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence.

The Hammer Award is given to student-athletes who exemplify grit, strength, teamwork, character, and effort—qualities that are at the heart of both Blair’s and Far Hills’ athletic philosophy.

“Grit, strength, teamwork, character, and effort—everything we teach in our program!” said Ron Sansone, Director of Athletics and Physical Education at Far Hills. “To see Sean recognized for these exact values at the next level is a proud moment for all of us.”

In the demanding sport of crew, success is built through relentless determination, precise collaboration, and mental toughness—traits Sean consistently displayed during his time at Far Hills and has clearly carried with him into high school.
