Navigating the Digital World: Chelsea Lopez from The Social Institute Visits Far Hills

On Monday, October 21, we had the pleasure of hosting Chelsea Lopez from The Social Institute, who led two insightful sessions as part of our ongoing #WinAtSocial program. Chelsea’s visit reinforced our commitment to empowering students and families to navigate the ever-evolving digital landscape in positive, proactive ways.

During the day, Chelsea met with our faculty, discussing the complexities of group chats, peer interactions, and how to support students in making smart decisions online. She provided practical strategies that equip our educators to help students build resilience and healthy tech habits.

In the evening, Chelsea engaged with our parent community in a presentation titled “How to Proactively Empower Your Child(ren) to Navigate Social Media.” The session was designed to offer parents guidance on how to set positive tech standards at home and address the latest trends and platforms their children might encounter. Chelsea emphasized that the key to navigating the digital world isn't restriction, but empowerment, encouraging families to set shared values and practical strategies for tech use.

Building on the success of last year’s program, we're thrilled to announce that our partnership with The Social Institute now includes students in Grades 3 and 4. Each week, students in Grades 3–8 participate in #WinAtSocial lessons during flex periods or advising sessions, where they engage with a gamified curriculum designed to help them navigate social media and technology in a constructive and character-driven way.

At Far Hills, we are proud to be at the forefront of addressing the digital challenges that today’s students face. Our partnership with The Social Institute equips our school community—students, faculty, and families—with tools to make informed, healthy choices in the online world, fostering a stronger school culture and character along the way.
