Far Hills Alumni Reconnect and Reflect at NYC Reunion
On Thursday, April 3, Far Hills alumni from the Classes of 2006–2016 reunited for a vibrant evening of laughter, storytelling, and connection at the Alumni NYC Social. Held at the lively Jackdaw Bar in New York City's East Village, the event drew graduates from across the area—Hoboken, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Mendham, Warren, and beyond—all eager to reconnect with old friends and celebrate their Far Hills roots.
“It was electric,” said Head of School Georgia Zaiser, who made the trip into the city for the event. “Seeing our alumni light up when they spotted a familiar face—or recognized a favorite teacher—reminded me how enduring and meaningful a Far Hills education truly is. This wasn't just a social event; it was a reunion of classmates.”
A City Reunion with Deep Roots
The bar buzzed with joyful conversation as classmates reunited, shared memories of their 8th-grade Expo projects and Adirondack trips, and bonded over mini Far Hills flashbacks. The Class of 2015 showed up in full force, claiming the title for the most spirited turnout with nine attendees. As alumni swapped stories and raised their glasses, Far Hills' legacy was front and center. "The connections our graduates share—years after they've left our halls—are extraordinary," said Tom Evans, Director of Development. “It's a testament to the strength of our community and the character of our students."
Celebrating Success and New Chapters
Throughout the evening, the accomplishments of Far Hills alumni emerged in conversation—impressive, inspiring, and always infused with the creativity and drive that defines a Far Hills education.
- Ryan Campbell is shaping the future of digital media at Google, working behind the scenes on the ads we all know (and maybe sometimes skip).
- Rylan McGinn and Oliver Everhard discovered they're now colleagues at American Express and couldn't help but “talk shop” while sharing a drink.
- Christina McGinnis, currently a student at Rutgers Medical School and recently engaged, glowed as friends toasted to her future in medicine and marriage.
- Corey Downey is making waves in both real estate and acting, proving you really can do it all.
"This generation of alumni is fearless,” said Evans. "They're forging their own paths—and carrying the Far Hills values of integrity, curiosity, and confidence with them."
Full-Circle Moments and Lifelong Bonds
In one touching moment, Nick Coury '13 recalled receiving a care package before his Peddie School graduation—a "Chef Mike cookie," lovingly sent by teacher Ed Thompson. "It may have arrived three years late," he joked, "but it meant the world to me. That cookie was a reminder of how much Far Hills cares—always has, always will."
For many, the event offered a fresh appreciation for the school's long-standing faculty. "I’m a teacher now myself," Isabel “Bella” Walton ‘11. "And I truly understand what it means to have educators who believe in you. We were lucky to have that at Far Hills." Several were delighted to discover how many fellow alumni live close by in NYC. "It's like we've been growing up together all along—even without realizing it," said one attendee. Some even spoke about their hopes of sending their own children to Far Hills someday, completing the circle.
Looking Ahead With Gratitude
As the evening came to a close, the energy remained high. Hugs were exchanged, numbers were saved, and promises were made to attend the next gathering. Many spent time catching up with faculty and learning about exciting developments on campus—from new programs to the redesigned website.
“There's something truly special about this community," said Zaiser. "To see our graduates living with purpose and staying connected—it makes everything we do at Far Hills matter even more." The NYC Social wasn't just a night out—it was a celebration of legacy, friendship, and the enduring impact of a school that shapes students for life. Here's to the next reunion—and to the Far Hills family that keeps growing stronger with every year.
