A Far Hills Tradition: Faculty/Alumni vs. Grade 8 Soccer Game

On Tuesday, November 11, Far Hills Country Day School’s annual Faculty/Alumni vs. Grade 8 Soccer Game brought plenty of action—and a few surprise snow flurries—to the field. Even with the cold in the air, the energy was electric as students, faculty, alumni, and families gathered to cheer on their favorite teams.

From the opening whistle, it was clear this was no casual kick-around. Grade 8 came ready to play, showing off teamwork, skill, and determination as they challenged their teachers and alumni. The faculty and alumni team, many returning to the field where they once played as students themselves, showed they still had plenty of competitive spirit—and maybe a few slick moves up their sleeves.

Laughter echoed across the field as goals were scored, high-fives were exchanged, and friendly rivalries took shape. Teachers and classmates bundled up on the sidelines, cheering and clapping through the chilly breeze. It was one of those perfectly Far Hills moments—where tradition, connection, and joy come together in the most genuine way.

This annual matchup is more than just a game; it’s a celebration of community and continuity. Alumni reconnect with their alma mater, students experience the joy of competition and sportsmanship, and everyone leaves reminded of what makes Far Hills so special—the people who make up its heart.

A huge thank-you to all the players, supporters, and alumni who made this year’s game such a memorable one. The weather may have been cold, but the Falcon spirit burned bright!
