By making a planned or deferred gift you can create a legacy that lasts for generations. Planned gifts strengthen Far Hills Country Day School and provide income to you and your family, tax benefits through real estate gifts, or tax-free transfer of assets to your family through a charitable trust. Bequests
Bequests can be complex and very specific language is necessary to ensure that your intentions are carried out correctly. Click below for sample language; you may also want to consult Far Hills and/or your legal council for assistance.

General Purposes Endowed Fund
I give and bequeath to Far Hills Country Day School, a New Jersey not-for-profit corporation, the sum of ____________ dollars (or all the rest, residue, remaining estate) to create an endowed fund (the “Fund”). The income from this fund shall be used for the general purposes of the School at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.
Far Hills Country Day School is hereby authorized to commingle this Fund, and any additions thereto with the general investment funds of the School, provided only that this Fund receives its credited pro rata share of net investment income in the same manner as the other pooled funds are credited with income.
If, as a result of changed conditions in the future, the income from the Fund shall not be needed for the original purpose(s) set forth above, then the School is authorized to redirect the income for such other purposes as nearly as possible akin to the original purpose as in its judgment will help advance the school’s mission and serve as a memorial to (name).

For example, some restricted gifts require a minimum gift amount.

If at any time in the judgment of the Trustees of Far Hills Country Day School it is impossible or impracticable to carry out exactly the designated purpose, they shall determine an alternative purpose closest to the designated purpose.
The Mt. Kemble Society
The Mt. Kemble Society is Far Hills Country Day School’s program for honoring and thanking alumni and friends of Far Hills who have arranged a bequest or planned gift for the school. Anyone who notifies Far Hills that the school has been named as a beneficiary through his or her estate, or through a planned gift during his or her lifetime, is automatically enrolled as a member of the Society.
Founded in 2000, the Mt. Kemble Society honors the original name and founders of the school. Far Hills Country Day School was founded in 1929 as the Mt. Kemble School, located in Morristown, New Jersey enrolling a first class of six kindergarten children. As enrollment increased, the School moved to Bernardsville, and then to Far Hills and the Page House, a building still used by the school today. In 1944, the name of the School was changed from the Mt. Kemble School to Far Hills Country Day School.
