2018–19 Tuition & Fees

When you GO FAR, you are investing in your child's trajectory toward success in the modern world. Our students have been nurtured in a culture of academic excellence that is rooted in character development. The relationship that develops between Far Hills students and their teachers is exceptionally special as shown by our graduates who have gone far, yet often come back to visit as alumni or rejoin our community in a new role, as parents.

Tuition Assistance

It is Far Hill Country Day School’s desire to provide tuition assistance to academically qualified students in need. We contract with a third party processing firm, SSS, to process our applications for need and assist in determining a family’s ability to pay. If you do not already have a SSS account (existing Far Hills families—this is a new system for 2018), you must create a new account in order to access the site's information and application. Requests for aid generally outpace funds available. Tuition assistance dollars are allocated based upon need and spaces available within a division or grade. Application and decisions on assistance awards are made annually and assistance must be reapplied for each year.

The SSS application site opens to our families on December 1. All tuition assistance applications must be completed in SSS. Tax returns for 2017 can be submitted at any time. Applications are subject to a “first come, first served” process for review.

All tuition assistance applications are reviewed by the Tuition Assistance Committee and remain confidential within that group. Recipients of assistance awards are also expected to maintain confidentiality regarding any award they receive or the award may be revoked. All tuition assistance awards are subject to final review of the family’s tax return.

Far Hills Country Day School follows a need-blind admission policy. This means that students are considered for admission independently of their need for tuition assistance.

Tuition Support

Far Hills Country Day School was founded as the Mt. Kemble School in 1929, during a period of U.S. history that was marked with unforeseen and sudden economic hardship for most families across the country. Despite extreme financial challenges for the school and its community, our founders stayed the course and remained true to their mission to provide experiential, forward-thinking education to their students. That mission had compelled and inspired them to create the school.

Today, as stewards of that legacy, Far Hills is duty-bound to offer vital tuition support to well-deserving families who may otherwise shy away from applying to an independent school. We encourage families of all socioeconomic backgrounds to apply for a FH education.

Far Hills offers over $1 million annually in financial assistance to nearly 20% of our families. Far Hills has a socioeconomically diverse community, enriched with a variety of experiences and backgrounds.

Investing in your child’s early education is an important decision. We welcome the opportunity to discuss a financial partnership that will make it possible for your child to attend Far Hills Country Day School.
