"To me, GO FAR means travel the world. I hope to some day. Studying language and culture at Far Hills has inspired me to think globally as I map out my future."

The Far Hills World Language Department offers students the opportunity to study Mandarin, Spanish, and/or Latin. In the Lower School, Preschool to Grade 4 students study both Spanish and Chinese in an exploratory program. In the Upper School, the Grade 5 students choose to study either Mandarin, Spanish, or Latin. They continue with their language of choice through Grade 8.

The four skills of language learning are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. At Far Hills, the World Language Department goes farther by having the students employ these skills to critically examine what the human experience looks like around the world. This exploration helps students discover both the beauty of human existence in far off lands and their own place in the world.
