Far Hills Country Day School, a private Preschool through Grade 8 school in Far Hills, New Jersey, seeks highly qualified substitute teachers. Substitute Teacher Responsibilities:

• Implement the lesson plans and activities, and assign the homework as outlined by the classroom teacher.
• Oversee students outside of the classroom, including in the hallways, at recess, and in the cafeteria.
• Take attendance. 
• Leave a detailed and informative report sharing the events of the day with the classroom teacher.

Substitute Teacher Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Prior experience working with children is required. 
• Must be experienced and comfortable with technology and Chrome O/S. 
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have a passion for working with children.
• Be enthusiastic, energetic, creative, and flexible.

Job Title: Private Music Lesson Teacher—Piano

Department: After-school Music Conservatory

Reports to: Far Hills Conservatory Director

Far Hills Country Day School seeks experienced and dedicated private music teachers to teach Intermediate/Advanced piano at our after-school conservatory. The school has five dedicated practice rooms for teaching lessons from 3:15 to 6:00 pm daily. The candidate is one who has experience working with elementary-aged students (up to age 14) at the intermediate level and above of private study on the piano. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Check-in with the Conservatory Director daily

• Teach weekly private lessons throughout the 2024–25 school year

• Prepare the students for two recitals (January and June)

• Communicate student progress with the Conservatory Director and the parents

• Log their lessons at the end of each week and share the log with the Director

Schedule:
Teachers can choose one to five days a week to teach lessons from 3:15–6:00. The school cannot guarantee to fill the entire time slot. Teachers of multiple instruments are encouraged as they will have a more full schedule. Other instruments and lessons offered are voice, strings, winds, beginner piano

Job Title: After-Care Counselor Staff

Far Hills Country Day School seeks passionate Childcare Counselors for our daily afterschool childcare program. We understand the importance of ensuring children are cared for and engaged after school hours at Far Hills Country Day School. Our comprehensive After School Programs are designed to provide a safe, nurturing environment where students can continue to grow academically, creatively, and socially. As a Counselor, you will be immersed in a team working together to provide a wonderful after-school experience through various activities and events that help the daily operation of the program and provide invigorating experiences for each student. An effective Counselor goes above and beyond to establish positive and healthy relationships with each student and parent, support their social-emotional development, and embrace a leadership and caregiver role. Creativity and love of children are the perfect skills for this position.

Counselor Responsibilities:

• Provide appropriate supervision for students at all times.

• Interact with students throughout the afternoon through observation and support positive growth.

• Support the planning and implementation of all activities, including but not limited to learning initiatives, culminating performances, and campus activities.

• Create and maintain a strong but youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of each participant.

• Prepare the learning environment and necessary supplies for program activities.

• Assume responsibility for the organization of the room, program supplies, and activity space. Cleanse and sanitize the space, materials, equipment, and toys daily.

• Collect and document daily attendance.

• Serve as a positive role model through creativity, safety, flexibility, and enthusiastic energy. 

• Effectively communicate with supervisors, coworkers, and parents in a healthy and productive manner.

• Have the physical ability to move around the classroom, throughout the facility, and on-campus grounds throughout the day.

• Ability to follow directions and adhere to all Far Hills policies/procedures.

Counselor Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year working or interacting with children

• High School Diploma 

• Willingness to participate in New Jersey Department of Education mandatory background check

• Childhood Education or Childcare Certification is preferred but not required

Hours:

• This position offers flexible days or five days per week from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• The hourly rate for this position is between $16–22, depending upon experience and education level.
