Things to note:
  • Registration begins February 1, 2017.
  • All classes begin the week of April 3, 2017.
  • (Friday, March 31 will be the first class for Girl’s Lacrosse and Kiddie Soccer.)
  • Enrichment Classes are NOT held when there is a 2 p.m. dismissal.
  • Extended Day and Enrichment Classes are both NOT held when there is a 12 p.m. dismissal.
  • The Extended Day Program is included on any days your child has an enrichment class. You do not need to register for Extended Day for a day that you also have registered for an enrichment class. (For example, if your child has an Enrichment Class on Tuesday, you do not need to register for Extended Day on Tuesday.)

Mondays

Intro to Piano

Instructor: Rosalyn McClore, Conservatory Teacher at FH

Do you have a four-, five-, or six-year-old year old student who is interested in piano? This class is a great place to start. Intro to Piano is geared for young children to learn the basics of piano in a group setting. Ms. Rosalyn McClore, a Music Conservatory teacher at Far Hills, teaches this course using the Music for Little Mozarts curriculum. This curriculum is written specifically for young ages and provides a balance between the discipline necessary for playing the piano, and the enjoyment one receives from the process of music making. Make and Take

Instructor: Dori Cirelli, Teacher at FH

Come join this new enrichment with Ms. Cirelli to become an expert on creating amazing projects that you get to take home! The projects will provide the children an opportunity to engage the artist and scientist within them! Using both interest based and literature inspired ideas, the children will independently perfect science recipes for such items as play dough and slime while also cultivating their crafting skills.

Holiday Cooking Fun!

Instructor: Jill Tuazon, Teacher at FH

Treat your young chef to a complete hands-on cooking experience, and leave all the planning, prep and cleanup to us. After each class, your student will go home with the food we have cooked. At the end of the sessions, everyone will take home a recipe book. See you in the kitchen!


The Checkmate Chess Club

Instructor: Peter McBride, Teacher at FH

Chess is a wonderful game that unlocks a child’s imagination and teaches them to think, plan and strategize. The Checkmate Chess Club is for beginner and intermediate players in grades 2-5. Participants in this class will work on puzzles, learn new moves, and play games in a fun, stress-free environment.


Old School/New School Sports & Games

Instructor: Oliver Forsythe, Technology Support Specialist/Coach at FH

Come join the fun and play some old school games of kickball, whiffle ball and capture the flag. We will also play soccer, lacrosse, basketball and more. Do not miss out on the chance to be active and have tons of fun outside on our athletic fields or inside our amazing Athletic Center.


Lower School Musical – "The Wizard of Oz, YPE"

Instructor: Callie Shafto and Amy Burns, Teachers at FH

When are rehearsals? Students will pick either Monday or Thursday for their one-time-per-week rehearsals.

Note: In our final week, we will hold rehearsals on Monday 5/22, Tuesday 5/23 and Wednesday 5/24 in preparation for the performance on Thursday, 5/25. The entire cast attends ALL 3 Dress Rehearsals from 3:30–5:30 p.m. to ensure everyone's readiness for the performance.

Family members, guests and friends are all invited to attend the PREMIERE performance on Thursday, May 25 at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Kids Knitting

Instructor: Darcy Petrie, Teacher at FH

  • Grades: 2–5 (limited to 6 participants only)

Learn a skill that will last a lifetime! Start with the basics of chain and finger knitting bookmarks, wristbands, and bracelets. Move on to beginner knitting needles and create a custom headband, scarf, bag, or hat. Relax while creating one-of-a-kind accessories and gifts for yourself, friends, and family.

Ballet & Jazz Dance Class Part 2!

Instructor: Annie’s Playhouse

If you missed us this winter at Annie’s, here is your chance to join us. Dance genres will be explored including Ballet and Jazz. Children will learn the basic/intermediate dance steps in each of the genres and explore becoming more centered. They will be introduced to the concept of working as a group as a way to improve health and fitness using dance. Annie’s Playhouse will pick the children up at FH and even bring them back to FH for pick up. You can bring your child to Annie’s and pick them up at Annie’s if you wish to do so.

STEAM Expo!

Instructor: Cathy Varga, Director of Technology at FH

This class is perfect for all of our technology enthusiasts or for those who just want to learn a little bit about a lot in technology. The students will create a project on the 3D printer, design circuit boards, program Dot & Dash robots, use Makey Makey invention kits to their delight. Do not miss out on this cutting edge offering.

Yoga In The Garden

Instructor: Danielle L'Heureux, Teacher at FH

Join us for a fun, kids yoga class and learn some new ways to calm your mind and body. Each class will include yoga poses, breathing techniques, and guided meditation. Other activities will include preparing healthy snacks, coloring mandalas, learning new songs and more! Danielle L'Heureux is a YogaKids certified instructor.

Acro-Jazz!

Instructor: Annie’s Playhouse

Come join us for some tumbling and dancing in a weekly hour of fun! Annie’s Playhouse will pick the children up at FH and even bring them back to FH for pick up. You can bring your child to Annie’s and pick them up at Annie’s if you wish to do so.


Book and Cook!

Instructor: Terri Kinney, Teacher at FH

Join Mrs. Kinney to read favorite children’s books and create foods inspired by stories that will bring characters and themes to life in a memorable and "digestible" way! Participants engage in exciting, hands-on cooking activities. This literature based cooking enrichment will survey growing food, healthy eating, table manners and more. Our recipe preparation will be fun and help us practice skills including weighing and measuring, following directions, food hygiene, and recognizing ingredients.

Master Kwon’s Tae Kwon Do

Instructor: Master Kwon

  • Grades: PreK–3
  • Time: 3:30–4:30 p.m.

Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art with an emphasis on kicking. This action-oriented class involves kicking, punching, self-defense and basic hand motions. There will also be obstacle courses, stretching, and board breaking. The class is oriented toward skills accomplishment and progressive learning. At the conclusion of the class there is a test for the students to achieve their next color belt, there is an additional fee involved.

Testing is optional.

Additional $25 uniform purchase required.


Thursdays

LEGO Engineering

Instructor: Terri Kinney, Teacher at FH

Did you know that engineering concepts used by professionals can be taught through LEGO play? Building a city, tower or neighborhood with LEGOS and with LEGO Friends isn’t just fun, it’s a learning experience. Students will have the freedom to explore, create, problem-solve and cooperatively work with one another on both simple and complex projects. The class culminates in a LEGO Museum, created by the students, to showcase their masterpieces.

Yoga and Mindfulness

Instructor: Sue Miller, Teacher at FH

  • Grades: 2–4
  • Time: 4–5 p.m.

Your child will make strides in their social, emotional and attentional skills during this 8 week enrichment in mindfulness. Jon Kabat Zinn, a pioneer in mindfulness-based education describes mindfulness as “paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally, to the unfolding of the experience, moment to moment.” Through stories, crafts, and mindfulness practice your child will discover the joy of living in the moment and being more aware of life as it happens. This enrichment is led by 2nd-grade teacher Sue Miller who has had training in mindfulness through Mindful Schools, an organization in California that is dedicated to bringing the gift of mindfulness to all children with Mindful Schools to learn how to introduce and implement mindfulness in a school setting.

Painting in the Studio

Instructor: Stephanie Santos, Teacher at FH

Let’s get creative! The students will have the experience of exploring with different kinds of paint ('mud paint', watercolors, gouache and tempera) and different surfaces (wood, newspaper, watercolor paper and canvas). Some sessions could be held outside on our beautiful property weather permitting.

Girls On The Run!

Instructor: Lindsay Heit, Teacher at FH

Girls On The Run is a running program for girls in grades 3–5. It is designed to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of healthy living and encourages self-respect. Girls will have fun training for eight weeks to prepare for a 5K. The emphasis is not on running, but on having fun. The girls are encouraged to set goals and meet them by walking, running, skipping or a combination of all 3. There is a separate registration (and cost) for the 5k which will be scheduled in the spring.

Rugby for Beginners!

Instructor: Peter McBride, Teacher at FH

Come join Mr. McBride as he shares his love for the Prop, Lock, Fly, Flankers and Scrums. If you want to learn all about Rugby, this is the class for you. All skills, drills and games will be played like flag football. Do not miss your chance to become a Rugby player.

Girl’s Lacrosse

Instructor: Erin Mazzatta, Teacher and Lacrosse Coach at FH

Let’s Go Lax! The goal is for them to enjoy their experience and to learn important fundamentals of the game. Each week we will work on improving cradling, catching, throwing and scooping up ground balls with fun games and drills. Come away with an understanding of the game of lacrosse so you can grab your stick and play anytime. You will need goggles, mouth guard and a stick.


Kiddie Soccer

  • Grades: PreK–1
  • Time: 3:30–4:30 p.m.
  • Cost: $215
Kiddie Soccer is a fun-filled and age appropriate soccer program for PreK–grade 1 boys and girls. The sessions are based on various thematic games that are fun and non-competitive, yet instructional. The coaching staff are men and women who coach and play soccer, but more importantly, are experienced in working with young children. All participants receive a Kiddie Soccer t-shirt after the first class, and a Kiddie Soccer participation medal when the class concludes.
